Travis and Bonnie

I am the mother of a terrific nine-year-old boy named Travis. My son is hydrocephalic and has varying degrees of special needs. Travis has a shunt that drains his cerebral spinal fluid out of his brain and into his abdominal cavity. To date he has undergone 17 brain surgeries, and at some point in the future will require another. Without the help of the many specialists, nurses, staff and volunteers at BC Children's Hospital this experience would have been unbearable. However their expertise and compassion enabled us to navigate our journey with hope and dignity.

It is with great pleasure that I announce to you our plans for the third annual Hydrocephalus Fund Raiser. Once again all proceeds will be going to the Pediatric Neurosurgery Fund at BC Children's Hospital. We plan to hold the event on May 15, 2004 at the Executive Airport Plaza Ballroom with Nearly Neil providing the entertainment for the evening. This year's goal is to surpass last years unbelievable total of $29,000.00 through ticket sales, a raffle, and both a live and silent auction. This is our way of saying thank you for the wonderful care and support we have received from our friends at Children's Hospital.

Once again, we are requesting donations of gift certificates, to raffle and /or items for auction. On behalf of Children's Hospital and the Hydrocephalus fundraising committee, I would like to thank you in advance for your invaluable contribution, and we look forward to sending you a follow up letter to inform you of our events success.
